My thoughts on Jinder Mahal and his feud with The Great Khali.

There are a few things I’ve been thinking to myself about Jinder Mahal right now.

What direction does his feud with The Great Khali need to take?

The storyline that Jinder Mahal and The Great Khali are currently in is as follows; Jinder Mahal has always been jealous of The Great Khali’s fame in India. But The Great Khali’s family found themselves in financial trouble, and this ended in Jinder Mahal marrying The Great Khali’s sister. Then when Jinder Mahal made it to the WWE, he threatened to humiliate The Great Khali’s family by divorcing his wife unless The Great Khali gets Mahal to the top. I am not saying it’s not a good storyline. In fact it’s a very good idea and a lot more imaginative than usual WWE storylines, which I praise. What the WWE have to be careful of is stereotyping all Indian people and their culture, as well as making sure they don’t put aspects of their culture in a negative light.

A sign of worldwide expansion

One thing that’s good about Jinder Mahal showing up on Smackdown is that it shows that the WWE is expanding into other markets. This addition may make people in India watch the WWE more as there are more stars. As I said above though, the WWE have to be careful with their storylines, and make sure that they don’t put their culture in a bad light.

He’s very similar to Muhammad Hassan.

Every time I watch him wrestle he reminds me of Muhammad Hassan. The way he looks, his size, his wrestling ability; everything reminds me of him. His character is a bit different, as Hassan was concentrating on the prejudice he felt in a post 9/11 world, but otherwise they are very similar. Maybe the WWE will try and do what they wanted to do with Hassan with Jinder Mahal.

The future: Where does he go from here?

Firstly, I want to see him in a match that goes on longer than a few minutes. I want to see if he can be impressive in that environment. Although his feud with Khali should be a very long one, it cannot go on for too long. If it goes on for too long people will forget about the story, forget why Khali made them laugh, and they especially won’t care when he turns face. A natural place where they could go is the tag team scene, as they could be very dominant. Another is a feud with Ezekiel Jackson for the WWE Intercontinental Championship, which could put both wrestlers on the map if done correctly. However, the feud has to lead to Khali eventually turning on Mahal. It would also help Mahal’s career if he won that feud, and it could lead him to a feud with Randy Orton, or a move to Raw and feuding with possibly John Cena and others. Although if I were him i’d change his finisher. A full nelson slam doesn’t look that impressive..
